2018 Indiana Hoosiers prospect primer

Below are the notable Indiana Hoosier prospects eligible for the 2018 NFL Draft. The Hoosiers are trending the right direction, as they tout a number of impressive players who could hear their name called, regardless of if they leave school early or are out of eligibility.

Wide Receiver Simmie Cobbs Jr. – 6040, 220 – Redshirt Junior

Indiana will be happy to welcome back Cobbs, who missed all of last season. Cobbs eclipsed 1,000 receiving yards in 2015 as a true sophomore, he’s a tremendous mismatch on the boundary with his blend of size, strength and speed. He excelled when given vertical shots thanks to his ball skills (he’s averaging over 17 yards per reception in his career to date).

Quarterback Richard Lagow – 6060, 240 – Redshirt Senior (JUCO)

Lagow is a big armed passer who should be able to benefit from the return of Cobbs. Indiana’s passing offense has kept them competitive over the past few seasons and Lagow will keep that trend alive this year. There are some nice instances of NFL timing in his film and he could potentially experience a nice boost in 2017.

Defense

Cornerback Rashard Fant – 5100, 175 – Redshirt Senior

Fant may only have four interceptions in his career but no one in college football can match his overall ball production in the secondary over the past two seasons. Fant has logged 39 passes broken up in the past two seasons, a whopping ten more than the next closest figure (new Dallas Cowboy Jourdan Lewis).

Linebacker Tegray Scales – 6000, 230 – Senior

Scales is slightly undersized but it’s difficult to ignore his production. That seems to be a theme on the Indiana defense, as both he and Fant do not meet all desirable measures but it’s quite apparent they can compete at a high level. How frequent was Scales on impacting plays last year? He finished with 125 total tackles, 7.0 sacks and 24.0 tackles for loss. More dominating production this year, especially at the linebacker position, will fortify his standing as a potential Draft selection.
