2018 Florida Gators prospect primer

Below are notable University of Florida Gators players eligible for the 2018 NFL Draft. The Florida program has won the SEC East two years in a row and are now looking to take the next step of winning the SEC and making the College Football Playoff.

Offense

Wide Receiver Antonio Callaway – 5’11”, 197 lbs. – Junior

Callaway has led the Gators in receiving yards each year beginning his freshman season. His combination of deep speed and quickness within his cuts allows him to be utilized as an outside and slot receiver. The Gators have added weapons around him which could free him of double coverage and boost his numbers to catapult him into the 1st round conversation.

Tight End Deandre Goolsby -6’4”, 244 lbs. – Senior

Goolsby should interest pass happy NFL teams next draft season. He threatens defenses with his receiver like speed and does a good job of catching the ball away from his frame.

Offensive Guard Martez Ivey -6’5”, 305 lbs. – Junior

Former 5-star recruit Ivey brought a gritty attitude to the running game since day one. Now he is one of the leaders of the team. He uses heavy hands to reset the line of scrimmage and should look to put the run game on his shoulders.

Running back Jordan Scarlett – 5’10”, 213 lbs. – Sophomore

Defense

Cornerback Duke Dawson – 5’11”, 208 lbs. – Senior

Dawson has roamed the secondary playing outside DB, nickel, and safety to try and make his mark within the shadows of Florida’s great DBs from recent years. Now he has a full understanding of the secondary scheme. His natural quickness to shadow a WR one on one and physicality to lay the boom will have Dawson rising the draft boards quickly much like Quincy Wilson from last season.

Defensive End CeCe Jefferson – 6’1”, 261 lbs. – Junior

Jefferson is another former 5-star recruit that could leave for the NFL Draft early. He earned playing time as a freshman because he learned quickly. He easily displays the strength to hold up against the running game. Look for him to breakout this year with prime-time sacks by swiftly shooting the gaps.

Special Teams

Punter Johnny Townsend – 6’1”, 211 lbs. – Redshirt Senior

Last season he earned several first team All American honors by ranking first in the country with a 47.9-yard punting average. If Townsend can continue his streak, we could hear another special team’s player name called during the draft.

Roger Dixon Jr

Roger is a native of Orlando, FL. After excelling in DII football his first 2 seasons, he fulfilled his lifelong dream of playing on the Florida Gators football team, where he was named Special Teams Player of the Year and Team Captain. He earned his degree in Economics from UF's Warrington College of Business. Roger brings a passion for football and unique perspective of what it takes to be successful in football at the highest level.
