Ever wonder how someone carves themselves a niche in the NFL Draft space? It might be what Matt Harmon, NFL.com’s fantasy expert on all things Wide Receivers, is asked constantly. As a result, Matt has for two seasons hosted the ‘Backyard Banter’ podcast; where Matt hosts various personalities throughout NFL and professional football media to tell their stories.
Harmon is well known for his work with “Reception Perception”; a project centered around tracking routes by players and their respective win percentages against certain coverage. His work, much like NDT Scouting, began around 2013 and he’s blazed a pathway to success with advanced fantasy analysis.
Kyle Crabbs had the opportunity to share his background and the catalysts that led to the inception of NDT Scouting and the direction of the company this week on the podcast. Kyle was also given the opportunity to discuss some of the biggest discrepancies between being a media scout and working in football, as well as opening up about the lessons learned in three years and counting in the business.
Kyle’s most notorious miss as an analyst is Tampa Bay Buccaneers Wide Receiver Mike Evans; Kyle discusses what he learned from that assessment and how it has changed his approach as a personality in the NFL Draft media.
You can listen to Kyle and Matt on the podcast here; or you may find it on iTunes by searching “The Backyard Banter” podcast.
