Below are the notable Vanderbilt University players eligible for the 2018 NFL Draft. Vanderbilt is slowly getting better after winning games against Georgia, Tennessee, Ole Miss and playing in a bowl game last season. This season, they return 17 returning starters and look to take the next step.
Running back Ralph Webb – 5’10”, 202 lbs. – Redshirt Senior
Webb has been the foundation of the Vanderbilt offense for the past 3 years. He has increased his rushing yards each year; gaining 907 yards as a freshman and ending last season with 1,283 yards. He is explosive, can maintain his momentum forward as he jukes defenders and understands how to set up his blockers.
Wide Receiver CJ Duncan – 5’11”, 203 lbs. – Redshirt Senior
Duncan is a consistent contributor when he’s on the field. Duncan missed the entire 2015 season but came back last season to lead the Commodores receiving group. Duncan shows good concentration on inaccurate passes. He will step on defenders’ toes on his route stem before making a move on deep routes. Duncan also shows a good habit to work back to the QB on downhill routes.
Linebacker Oren Burks – 6’3”, 230 lbs. – Redshirt Senior
Burks college career started as a safety before moving to the safety-LB hybrid role last season. Burks worked beside Vanderbilt product Zach Cunningham and now will try to continue the LB group’s success. As a LB, he plays with strong hands against blockers. NFL teams will be watching to see if he can fill the coveted hybrid role on their teams.
Safety Ryan White- 5’10”, 190 lbs. – Redshirt Senior
White’s film depicts him as a fearless tracker of the ball carrier. He flies downhill and shoots lanes to wrap up runners. He is a 2-time captain and will lead a senior filled secondary.
