2018 Louisville Cardinals prospect primer

Below are notable Louisville Cardinals players eligible for the 2018 NFL Draft.  The Cardinals enter the year eager to redeem themselves for falling apart down the stretch in 2016; losing their final three games to Houston, Kentucky and Louisiana State after starting the year 9-1.

Quarterback Lamar Jackson – 6030, 200 – Junior

The reigning Heisman Trophy winner is just one of three returning starters for the Cardinals offense in 2017. Jackson is passer with an explosive arm, tremendous athleticism and an eye for the big play.

Look for Jackson to take some positive strides throwing the ball vertically outside the numbers in 2017; it was a glaring hole in his game last season. If he can add that extra element to his passing, look out!

Cornerback Jaire Alexander – 5110, 192 – Junior

Alexander stepped up in a big way as a Sophomore in 2016; becoming one of the more electric defenders in the country. Alexander is lightning in a bottle in short areas; he’s loose and twitchy to change directions with suddenness. Alexander’s presence at the catch point is bigger than one would expect as well, he plays well above his weight class and shows a terrific nose for the football (5 INT/9 PBU/1 FF).

Safety Chucky Williams – 6020, 207 – Senior

A big enforcer on the back end, Williams returns as the team’s leading tackler from last season (107 total tackles including 10 tackles for loss). Williams will be a big piece in 2017, as he’s got the size needed to play in the box and supplement a relatively inexperienced group of linebackers this upcoming season.
