2018 Duke Blue Devils prospect primer

The Duke Blue Devils program currently offers little in terms of players with notable NFL Prospects who are eligible for the 2018 NFL Draft. No Duke Blue Devils were drafted in 2017, although three did sign undrafted free agent contracts after the draft. This team has been in a slide ever since their ten win season a few years ago.

Quarterback Daniel Jones – 6050, 210 – Redshirt Sophomore

Is it really a surprise that Coach David Cutcliffe has found himself another potential NFL passer? Cutcliffe, who coached the Manning brothers and a total of 6 NFL quarterbacks, certainly hopes to ride Jones back to relevancy.

Jones had a 16:9 TD/INT ratio and was the team’s second leading rusher. Expect him to continue to be two+ years away from considering the NFL, but Jones is certainly a name to watch after a promising start to his college career.

Middle Linebacker Ben Humphreys – 6020, 220 – Junior

Linebacker Joe Giles-Harris – 6020, 230 – Junior

This linebacker duo is another quality pairing in the ACC. The two tied for the team lead in tackles (107 each) and both also finished in the top three on the team in tackles for loss and sacks. On a unit that failed to make a lot of splash plays (just 10 interceptions, for example) getting more out of maturing players like Giles-Harris and Humphreys would go a long way in rebuilding a Duke Blue Devils defense that needs as much assistance as it can get; considering the firepower in the ACC.
